NeurodiversOTy aims to support individuals build true connections and achieve goals with the assistance of being connected with like-minded peers. Through creating neurodiverse friendly spaces and OT support, individuals are able to engage in their meaningful activities with more confidence and skills.

  • Our child-led social groups aims to work on:

    • Help guide anxieties and sensory overload in a group setting

    • Social skills - making connections with like-minded peers, learning to advocate for self, conflict resolution, etc

    • Learning strategies to regulate emotions when in group setting

    • Gross motor skills and sensory activities to support attention & regulation

    • Executive functioning skills - making a plan, working together, problem solving

    • Community access (based on what the kids may want to do and plan)

    • Fun activities led by the choice of the kids - may include crafts, science experiments, cooking, movement games, &/or pretend play!

    Groups size is between 4-6 members.

Authentic Allies Social Group

  • Our Life Skills group is designed to support teenagers aged 14-18 years to learn a variety of life skills associated with the increased responsibility that comes with young adulthood. This weekly group is designed to prepare teenagers for the work-force, and all the skills necessary for living out of home, such as money management, home chores, cooking and more! We aim to learn these functional skills while also helping individuals to increase their confidence, and implement tools and strategies to support mental health and overall health and wellbeing.

Life Skills Group

  • Our Homeschool Study Group teaches and encourages the use of specific strategies to support independent learning, regulated attention, and to manage sensory and emotional overload. This can be a great stepping stone to resume learning in a social environment if your child has the goal to return to school, TAFE, or university. This group is suited for students aged between 12 & 16, or 16-18years who would benefit from occupational therapy support to:

    • Scaffold written works

    • Learn how to scaffold and implement strategies for studying whether that is for NESA or studying through alternative pathways

    • Learn & practice implementing strategies to support the neurodiverse brain to regulate attention, and support creative thinking for studying

    • Learn the valuable skills of organisation of self and their belongings

Homeschool Study Group

  • The Organize & Empower Hour is a neuroaffirming, drop-in group designed for teens aged 14-18 (Year 10, HSC, and TAFE students) who want a supportive, low-pressure space to tackle study and life skills. Whether you need help breaking down tasks, managing your time, or finding strategies that work for your unique neurodivergent brain, this group is here to guide you.

    With professional occupational therapists on hand, we’ll help you get started, stay organized, and manage stress or burnout. Bring your schoolwork or let us help you create a plan tailored to your goals. Connect with peers, gain practical tools, and leave feeling empowered and accomplished—all in a calm, flexible environment that meets you where you are.

    Held on Monday afternoons 4:30-6:00pm and Saturdays 9:00-10:30am

Authentic Allies - OT Social Groups

  • Our child-led social groups aims to work on:

    • Learning strategies to regulate emotions when in group setting

    • Community access (based on what the kids may want to do and plan)

    • Fun activities led by the choice of the kids - may include crafts, science experiments, cooking, movement games, &/or pretend play!

    Groups size is between 4-6 members.

  • Multiple Groups:

    • 6-7 years - limited spaces available

    • 8-10 years - full

    • 11-14years

    • 15+ years

    Group members are sorted based on the age and interests.

  • $180.00 per person, per week for a 1.5hour group.

    This includes the cost of any materials required for the group.

    • ‘Regulation stations’

    • Alternative communication methods (AAC device, key sign cards, key sign)

    • Social story and All About Me pages provided at commencement of group

    • Staffing based on needs and number of group members

    2. Fill out the details in the form

    3. Phone Call and Initial Paperwork to be filled out.

    4. Schedule a ‘Meet and Greet’ with our OT which will act as a screener (mini assessment) to make sure each child/teen is matched appropriately to the group

    5. If your child is appropriate for the group, you will be sent a confirmation and social story that is relevant to your group.

  • Each group will be different due to the nature of the members in each other groups. Connection and safety between space, members, and facilitators is our first priority. This can include:

    • Various Art Expression activities

    • Movement Games

    • Board Games

    • Interest Discussions such as books, movies, video games etc

    • Fun mindful activities

    • Cooking, science groups, pretend play etc

    Members of the group will choose what they do together and make a plan if necessary for the following week.

    OT is here to facilitate communication, connection, anxieties, manage sensory overwhelm, and overall enjoyment of all group members.

    Social stories, and schedules can be provided to group members as discussed with your OT prior.
